January 2024 Fashion Trends

Here are our January 2024 fashion trends forecast brought to you by a fashion major and owner of The Lovely Sun.

1. Chrome Nails

Chrome nails were all the rage several years ago and now they are back! We love a beautiful iridescent look and if you're wanting to elevate your nails this year, get the chrome! We are loving chrome in the shades- pink, baby blue, neutral beiges and pearls, as well as a cute mocha brown color.

2. Maroon & Ruby Pops Of Colors

If you're not on the maroon and ruby red trend, where have you been the last few months? It's no surprise that this color trend will continue into this spring especially with Valentines Day just around the corner. If you want to hop on this trend try a pair of maroon boots or handbag, a red bow, a red sweater, or even red sneakers.
If you don't own a red item, you can purchase one on our website. Just type in Santa's Coming To Town in our search bar.

3. Black Pleather Bombers ( bombers in general)

We think black pleather bombers are going to dominate this winter. We are seeing bombers in beige, brown, black, and even colorful varsity jackets. At this time the bomber look is seeming to not be the classic cropped or waist length but a longer one. Instead of the classic crewneck neckline, we are seeing a collared neck for a more updated and trend-forward look.

4. Calf-High Boots

Years ago we had the over-the-knee boots that dominated the fashion industry. Lately we've been into the knee-high boots. But NOW, I'm seeing that length get shorter and shorter. No we won't see ankle length but are seeing calf-high and a bit below the knee boots. So when you're looking for your next boot, hop on this trend early!
If you don't own a pair yet, you can purchase one on our website. Just type in the Jacquie Boot in our search bar to get a calf-high chunky black boot AND it's on sale!

5. Charm Necklaces

This is a trend we can't wait to hop on. The market is loving vintage and costume jewelry right now so it's no surprise that the next trend is vintage charm necklaces. Our favorite place to find these is at a small business called ONEGO7DEN (www.onego7den.com) which has all vintage refurbished and thrifted jewelry at incredible prices.

6. Bows, Bows, and More Bows

Bows happened last year and they are sure to continue this year with Valentines Day only a month away. We will most likely see the bows trend continue throughout spring as well with bright colors like blues, greens, and yellows. People are wearing them in their hair, on their bags, and even on their shoes! This trend is the absolutely easiest to do since all you need is a string if you don't want to go out and buy a bow. #DIYIT

7. Draped Sweaters

This trend is super preppy and chic. All you need to do is take your favorite sweater and layer it over your outfit! You can keep it neutral this month, next month you can wear a pink or red sweater, and in March if it's still cold, try a baby blue or bright green sweater for some pops of color.

8. Winter White & Monochromatic Looks

Winter whites are in full bloom this winter season. We are especially loving the winter whites and beiges in a full monochromatic look. It's super chic and super easy to put together, simply wear all white and let the fit do the talking.
If you don't own many white items yet, you can purchase some on our website. Just type in to the search bar the Werk It Pant, Leighton Trousers, Ophelia Top, Rory Sweater,  or the All Weekend Long Set in Oatmeal

9. Silver Accents

We know NYE is over but silver accents are still going! This trend is super cute and fun! We are seeing silver accents in bags, shoes, and especially pants. Want to stand out? Hop on this trend for the next few months while it's still chilly.

10. Tie-Front Tops

Tie-front tops starting to get popular at the end of this past year and we will continue to see this fun trend this winter and spring. For winter, you can layer these tops with a turtleneck or tank and in the spring wear them by themselves with your favorite pair of jeans, trousers, or skirts!
If you don't own a tie-front top, you can purchase one on our website. Just type in the Pretty Petals top, the Dallas top, or the Ophelia top in our search bar.

11. Sweaters Over Maxi Dresses & Skirts

This trend is super chic and perfect for winter. We absolutely love layering and we are seeing sweaters layered over maxi dresses and midi skirts. Add a pair of sneakers for a dressed down look or boots for an elevated look. This trend is super easy to do and you can even wear it in the spring months with lighter weighted garment.
If you don't own a maxi skirt or dress, you can purchase one on our website. Just type in the Effortless White Midi Skirt or the Fir Midi Skirt in our search bar.

12. Mini Rectangle Tote Bags

A few years ago the super superrr small handbag was trending. I bet you can recall this one, it's the bag that you could barely fit your lipstick in. It was practically a coin purse! Now that trend is out and we have made it more practical. We are seeing the small bag but in a tall rectangular look to fit more items....like your phone AND wallet!! Thank goodness!

13. Oversized Chunky Cable Knit Sweaters

Finally, per usual, we are seeing chunky cable knit sweater this winter. Now that fall is over and spring is coming, we are seeing bright colors like greens, blues, yellows, and pinks! Of course we will always be wearing the classic white or beige neutral sweater but if you're a lover of this trend, step out of your comfort zone and try a bright colored sweater this month!
If you don't own a chunky knit sweater, you can purchase one on our website. Just type in the Rory Chunky Cable Knit Sweater in our search bar.
